We took a quick trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit. What could be better than a bit of fun fashion on a summer Friday?
The ‘conversations’, directed by Baz Luhrmann, are incredibly insightful and the exhibition is extremely inspiring. The relevance of Schiaparelli’s designs today is remarkable and the parallels between the two designers, given the polarity in their views of aesthetic and form, is pretty astonishing. It brings to light the recyclable nature of fashion, and makes one appreciate just how much these timeless designers like Schiaparelli, Chanel (and Prada!) continue to be so influential in the present day.
